Parking in Bristol
Discussion
HI
Having a drive down to Bristol for the week end with the Wife and stoping at the Brigstow Hotel on Welsh Back. I would like to ask some local advice, are there any good secure car parks nearby ? I am unsure what car I will be driving but it will be either the Rolls, the porsche 930, the bmw e9 csl or the maserati merak ss depending on the weather. Is the car park opersite the hotel ok ?
also any good local taxi firms for a trip to the match and back on saturday ?
thanks
marc

Errr difficult one, I imagine by the "one opposite the hotel" you mean the Queen Charlotte Street NCP which is behind the hotel (the hotel faces the water so you'd not want to park there!)
Queen Charlotte Street is pretty secure and has CCTV, I think there are a couple of local porsche owners who have season tickets as they are usually in there. It's not the biggest carpark around and some of the corners are quite tight as are lots of the spaces - head up to one of the higher floors and try to get yourself a space next to a pillar! It shouldn't be very busy over the weekend. When you leave, make sure you go for the barrier on the left at the exit - the angle of the right hand one is very tight and if you've got a biggish car will cause problems.
It's around £13 for up to 12 hours, I'm not sure about over that - I don't think it's much more for 24 hours. You can pay by credit/debit card at the pay machines before you go back to your car.
It's probably your best bet, I'm not sure that there is anything better around.
I've used Streamline Taxis 0117 9264001 - the firm I work for has an account with them. they've always been fine, if you give them your mobile number they'll text you when they arrive.
Have a good time!!

Thanks for that, thats is the car park at the back of the hotel so i think i`ll use it. Took my wife to the shed to chose the car thinking she would pick the rolls (spent half a day polishing it..)and she picked the Merak, it hasnt turned a wheel in 4 months so a quick oil and plug service in a record breaking 33 mins and it ready to go.
a bit nervus...400 mmile round trip in a car I havent driven for 4 months after a big big service and not driven since....

What a lovely city Bristol is......Got lost in the centre due to my sat nav deciding to take me round in ever decreasing circles. Saw a few nice porches, a nice Aston at the football ground and wicked 550 fesa on the m5. Had to make a off route stop on the way and did 360 miles ,the longest run the cars done in maybe 10 years with out missing a beat. Overall returned 16 mpg and got back 160 miles in less than 3 hours. The taxi firm was fab (thanks for the tip).
good match as well 1 1 was a fair result.

Glad you had a good time, it is nice here. You should have stayed longer today it's been beautiful and the walk around the docks and the Waterfront would have been lovely today!
Its amazing really, you live in the city and you become blinkered until somebody comes to visit, and you rediscover why you love Bristol so much
