We used 'Easymove' when we moved from Redland to Keynsham in '03, excellent service and didn't want 100% payment up front like others (such as Robinsons). Ours was a big move (one 4 bed, 3 reception house to another) and we paid for packing, which they also did very well.

We used Pickfords as our lives were going into storage between properties.
MrsV6 picked them after talking to and obtaining quotes from various companies.

So, the move's on then Mr Y?

Used Pickfords before too, although the quality does vary depending on which crew you get. They are very good when (if) they damage anything though.

Where are you moving to?

Not going to tell you that on here am I!

I'll have a double garage

Wife has already started appropriating useful workspace in said garage for something called a "chest freezer".

Put your foot down.

Garage = Car stuff.

Alternatively discuss your suggestion of fitting a work bench in the dining room.

Put your foot down with the roof off and no top on = chest freezer...

Chest freezers are an inefficient waste of floor area. Tell Mrs Yertis she can have a nice new shiny upright freezer and so she doesn't get cold in the winter months getting stuff from it, she can keep it in the house not in the horrible cold garage.

Serious head on for a mo:

My parents used to have a chest freezer in their garage and it was impossible to find anything in it without shifting ½ of it out first.

Of course, that was after shifting oily bits of engines from the lid first, as it made a handy extra 4ft of workbench!

All good arguments, yours too Pete. I'll leave an oily gearbox or something on it...

Mind you I'll just get bollocked and told to shift it and to clean the chest freezer...

I've used 'Interchange' for a couple of work moves and they've been excellent - no idea if they do domestic stuff though.

Back to the question of removal companies, a friend of mine recommends 'Yates'
