Trying to get a few PH'ers together for a good track day. Have just returned from the RING and need to get on track again. Motorsport events run this one, they are well organised and friendly.
Date 17th Oct Keevil (near Trowbridge) open Pit lane.
The track is an airfield job, so nice and safe, ideal for 1st timers, Pretty long at over 2 miles, hairpins and sweepers. Explore the limit of your cars in safety.
Cost is only £ 89 for the whole day. There is instruction if required. It would be great to get a few of us together, maybe a nice run through Radstock, etc, to get there.
There website is www.motorsport-events.co.uk they are taking bookings now.
WHO IS UP FOR IT?

I was thinking of doing this one too. I like Motorsports Events. I've not been to Keevil before though - how does Keevil compare to Hullavington (if you've been) and what's the surface like?

Surface same as Hallavington, not bad, slippery in wet.
Track layout however is a lot better, not so hard on brakes, good high speed corners, £10 cheaper, a must I think. Also be nice to catch up with local Ph'ers as I have only met a couple, at a place were we can really go for a blast. Also trip there good fun too, from Bristol.

I might well come to this if i can get hold of a suitable track car. Is there a cut off date for booking?

Must admitt I was expecting more people to be up for it than this. People should "STOP" polishing & posing & "START" driving and sliding. This is an airfield, what better place to improve your driving skills and explore the limits of the car in safety.

P.S. It does'nt matter what you drive as long as you DRIVE IT.

Some of us can't do trackdays due to the pesky crash helmet rules and my cars not having enough headroom for me to wear one. Ho hum, better drive quickly on the roads then, thats safer for everyone isn't it.

Well it does matter what car you use. My s4's brakes just won't survive more than a few laps, hence the need to buy something else first.

I would be coming but I'm otherwise engaged that month I was waxing lyrical in the pub last night, so I think you may yet get a bit more interest.

Agent. Have you tried different pads, braided hose or even just 5.1 fluid. I have a friend with an s4 and he comes with me to Castle Combe all the time.

Dazren, I see you have an M5, you must be 8ft tall if the seat won't allow you to wear a helmet.

Helmet hire is £10 for the day. Passengers & additional drivers only £10 too.

Actually I must try my helmet in the car to see if I fit - 6' 4" with a long torso too.

Do you know whether I'd get away with my carbon motocross stylee helmet? I always get to wear it at karting - I would hope it is the same - or does it have to be that stupid BS stamped type thing?

I'd barely get a lap done before the brakes go . Add to that the slightly wonky state of tune its in at the moment and it's just not worth trying.

Already on braided hoses, fluid isn't a problem. Can't get uprated pads as the'yre bizzarre internal caliper jobs that were only fitted to 3 types of Audi in the early 90s.
If i can get hold of a project car by then, i'll be there, but i don't really want to spunk nigh on £150 to spend the day outbraking myself off the circuit in the S4. Even if i don't drive, i'll probably turn up and take a few (hundred) photos.

Agent, be nice to see you there, maybe next time driving if the cars on form.

Neil, only need your driving licence, that's it.
Remember everybody aprox 100 dec @ 4500rpm (noise testing) Only very illegal pipes would fail this.

Check out there web page all is explained also see link to photos of previous days [url]www.edpphoto.com/galleries.htm. They are a very professional outfit, full driver instruction, one on one. Helmets, Ambulance, toilets, hot food, etc.
www.motorsport-events.co.uk

It is a very controlled environment, with full flag system, all is explained on web and pre-driver breifing.
