Queen Square - Monthly Meet
Discussion
Not sure if anyone is part of this group from Bristol. I found them purely by accident a month or so into moving to Gloucestershire. These meets used to take place in Bristol City centre but now take place in a local manner house.
Some pretty epic machinery shows up, was a Ford theme today.
I was there in the V6 Saab, one of only two at the whole event!

Many long standing. PHers from the Bristol area used to attend when it was in Queens Square.
Many threads on here discussing it and the move to other locations.
One of the longest running is here, (last post is 6 years ago!):

Yup, I’m in that category. The guy who bulldozed his way into the Avenue meets is a cock of the highest order and after attending a few of the new meets decided he’s not getting my money any more. The final straw was leaving via the ‘supercar line up’ to say goodbye to a mate and being stopped to ask if I was ‘lost’ - insinuating I had no right to drive past such machinery. Many threads on here discussing it and the move to other locations.

He gets some decent attendance, but the ass licking of supercar owners, his inflated ego by association to them, and the way he claimed the Avenue meet as his own in the first place makes me uncomfortable having any part of it.
I posted some photos of the ‘glory days’ at Queen Square on the FB group a while back and he deleted them

Sorry but i cannot agree with the above. Queens square club started many years ago before the internet and grew because of the internet, to a volume that Queen sq itself couldn't cope, and thankfully Dan took hold of it and created the club we have today. He is a genuine car enthusiast who involves all makes and models. He has come under pressure from some supercar owners to lay on additional days out which have been successful but also continues to have themed days (next being Sunday 14th French day) which are always the most popular days. so, well done Dan for taking the reigns with the help of an army of volenteers, otherwise the club would have faded away. Why not come along and make your own mind up all are welcome.
It was the Avenue Drivers Club, before it eventually turned into the Queen Square Car Club. IMHO it got too popular for the original location, with the inevitable dubious driving on show, causing problems with the locals. The parking left a bit to be desired too, as I got blocked in a few times, with no note left to contact the owner of the car blocking me in. I'm probably a grumpy old git, but I much prefer the smaller, informal cars and coffee type meets now after a life time of car shows.

I feel sorry for the army of volunteers who give up there Sunday morning for free whilst he must clear over a grand from each meet. 200+ cars at a minimum of a fiver a time (in cash!) is good going. There’s no way Eastwood are charging him with the money he pulls in for the breakfasts so except for PL insurance thats a tidy mornings work. I now go to a meet in Wales at Mamhilad - £2 entry, costs covered and the rest to charity.. even the onsite cafe donates on top!
