OK so it's not cars, but it was in the South West.

Were any PHers at THE game on Sunday?

What a return to the Premiership! Cracking atmosphere too.

I had a few  after the match at my local - only wish I could have stayed at The Wellington to see Stuart Barnes!

Credit to the Bath fans for taking it so well - just what rugby is all about.

Bring on Glos!!

I was there - in my Bath shirt and baseball cap...as a guest of one of the directors of Bristol. Needless to say I had to endure large quantities of urine extraction...

I don't begrudge Bristol the win - I reckon you'll need the points later in the season and I want to see Bath Bristol derbies every year. However, Bath would have won by 20 points if they had kicked their goals and hadn't dropped the ball every time they got within five yards of the Bristol line. Bath will come good, but I think Bristol have peaked early...

You mean Bath would have won if they hadn't lost...

I really ought to go and watch a match one of these days...

My dad went (didn't invite me, the rotter) - in his (pretty unqualified) view, the Bristol win was against the run of play.

To make it really worthwhile you need to get into a classical open top British sports car and drive 15-odd miles to a city of culture and beauty, to watch a team of class and pedigree. So much more agreeable than watching that gang of uncouth oiks in your back garden.

its a shame the memorial ground is only 5 miles form my house, Im mising out on the other 10 miles in the open top sports car.

oh well maybe I can just head into Bath instead and watch a "lesser" team perform poorly while listening to their fans bangon about how great they "should" and "used to be!"

Yes Bath SHOULD have won. But they did'nt, nor did they win at home against Northampton who got beat 32-0 against leicester the week before. And we won again AT NEWCASTLE (not many teams will win up there this year). Could it be Bath lost because we got in your faces and put pressure on! I do however agree we may well struggle over the season, and take as many points as we can early on as our squad is not as big as Bath.

P.S It does annoy me though how almost all of the Bath supporters seem to have such a RUGBY opinion when it is obvious when looking at them that they have never played the game at any significant level. At least with the Bristol fans there mostly ex-players of some degree.

P.P.S (Mark's Bother Paul Regan)So I have been in the stands many times with BOTH sets of supporters.

Also would be happy to blow away any of you Bath supporters in my NOBLE

Bath didn't win against Bristol because they missed straightforward kicks at goal, passed poorly on three overlaps and defended woefully when Bristol had their one real try-scoring opportunity. Bristol showed great spirit and took their chances. Hats off to Bristol.

Bath didn't win at home to Northampton because they missed straightforward kicks at goal, passed poorly on several overlaps and defended woefully when Northampton had their one real try-scoring opportunity. Oh, and the ref ruled out a perfectly good try and has since posted on the Bath messageboard apologising for his error (www.sportnetwork.net/boards/read/s105.php?f=108&i=141216&t=141216&sid=105). Northampton showed great spirit and took their chances. Hats off to Northampton.

Everybody is predicting a cricket score win for Leicester against Bath this weekend - I'm not. With the pressure of expectation off I suspect the Bath forwards will wake up and the result will be quite close (even though Leicester are clearly the best team in the country at present and will probably win).

So far as the comment about ex players is concerned, well that's just wrong. I know lots of players, past and present, who fill up the Rec every week.

missed opportunity, dropped passes, missed kicks, bla, bla bla.....reach for the hanky!!! This happens every week, to every team, only degrees of this is the difference.
I agree Bath just need a win to give them confidence and they will be away. But please don't diss the opposition, the area, etc. You lost you've got two points and will be lucky at this stage if you have three come monday. Face it this is not the 80's-90's and Bath are not the team they were!

P.S "I KNOW lots of ex-players" Just proves my point. You and the majority are not.

Read my post again. I made a point of saying that both Bristol and Northampton deserved their wins. Earlier I said that I hope Bristol survive because I relish Bath Vs Bristol derby games.

I have played rugby for Combe Down, Bath Spartans, Marlow, Bahrain, Dubai Exiles and Mina Seyahi Hurricanes.

As a matter of interest, why do you believe that more Bristol supporters are ex players than Bath supporters and why do you think that this would be in any way relevant?

Relevant because you have to of played the game to understand the difficulties & mistakes that inevitably occur and why. Also in order to appreciate the talent on display (both teams)

I was at Bath for 5yrs so I know the stark differences between the supporters. One of the most obvious is the unwillingness to let go of past glories. The other being the contrived belief that the opposition and Fans are both inferior in class & talent, leading to ill advised comments like “Oiks & Back garden”.

That was a joke aimed at somebody I know (Yertis) whose house literally backs onto the Memorial Ground. That's why there was a attached to it.
