Two new cameras (or the first time I've seen em')
Discussion
Heads up to everyone Bristol:
The first is the digital one that has been monitorng the bus lane on Hotwells Rd for ages (nr the Raj Bari) has now got lines all the way across the road - the first time I've seen a new digital camera with lines laid down...
The second is the set of lines painted on the road out by Aston Court, on Abbotsleigh Rd, now has a normal scamera plonked facing toward Abbots Leigh...
You have been warned! and all that.
Can anyone explain, incidently, I didn't realise the digital cameras were used for speed? I may be talking out of my arse however, but you generally see them used as traffic light cameras?

I'm fairly certain of this:
The bigger Gatso style ones (which stick out TO THE SIDE of the pole they are mounted on) are just red light cameras.
The smaller ones that sit directly ON THE TOP of the pole and usually higher up are called REDSPEED (search google) and do speed through green, and also red light jumping. I have seen the one on the way into Bristol/Clifton from Cribbs causeway flash someone at speed on green.
Sneaky if you ask me.. because they will get anyone who doesn't want to brake hard to stop as the lights change (if you're being tailgated by a van or lorry for example, which is pretty common these days) and accelerates to make it through the lights safely.

If you're talking about the one on Falcondale Road at the bottom of the hill just before the petrol station, it always used to be a red light camera. It was recently-ish replaced with one of the new style cameras (Monitron) and so presumably can do speed as well as lights.
However, Monitrons are digital AFAIK & I wasn't aware that they flashed. Can anyone shed some light on this?
(pun inintentional)

Hotwells Rd Speed camera
Abbots Leigh Speed Camera
Filton Ring Road RLC
If those little red light cameras also did speed they would have to list them on www.safecam.org.uk and they dont so i'd say they just do red lights.
