Went through one of these yesterday at about 88-90mph :( the setup is three remote cameras on tripods on a motorway bridge between J26 and J27, the white van tucked away to the side. when i went through yesterday at approx 11am the cameras were setup on both carriageways, but when i returned at 8pm they were just on the southbound carriageway.

Must of caught hundreds of people...Kerching! :ranting:

keep yer eyes peeled.

I think you'll find those are ANPR setups and there to catch tax dodgers

Thats a relief.. I might have passed along that way a few days ago and perhaps briefly accelerated to that sort of speed when overtaking something..

Have to say I didn't spot any cameras there though, (Sunday afternoon last..)

Thanks Kitt, hope that is the case... they were also there yesterday too. but i was mindful of the speed.
Its always a bit un-nerving seeing new cameras whenyou dont expect em.

Saw the van there about 08:30, but must have been before the tripods were set-up.

I often see these on over-bridges on this length of the M5.... usually too late to ease off on the speed, but have never received any nasty surprises through the post. Is that for sure that they are tax dodger traps?

I saw them over a couple days whilst going southbound. Definitely ANPR cameras, similar to Mohawk ones I think. They look like speed camears becasue they have an infrared attachment (to allow use in poor light) which looks like some sort of laser device for measuring speed. They should have these on every road in the country - the less un-insured and un-taxed vehicles the better.

Careful - Big Brother will be watching you! Much as I have nothing to hide, I don't believe in giving HM Govt more info than absolutely necessary.

It would also be very easy to turn this in to a SPECs type system: measure the distances accurately, a quick software change to calculate speed and then.....Kerchingggg!

They are still there (Southbound only), saw them on Saturday evening at about 6.30pm. Looked like ANPR cameras to me. But still had me worrying hence a quick check on PH to see if anyone else saw or knew what they were. They were also there again on Sunday morning at about 11.30am when I was on my return journey. But noticed that there was also a police car hidden with the Van as well upon on the bridge hidden by the bushes.
