The "American Diner" nearer to the Sparkford Roundabout than Wayne's isn't bad.

I'll remember that-I often drive down the A303 on the way to visit/collect a pal in Cornwall and need somewhere to stop. I've eaten at that American diner place (think it's called Route 303 or similar) and wasn't especially impressed!

Just off the A303, between Yeovil and Ilminster. Well worth the very small detour (two minutes?). A real delight.

Why doesn't someone just open a bog standard greasy spoon.

That's all you want, isn't it?

"Full English, please". "Oh! Better make that two".

They serve breakfast 'till 11am, their normal opening hours are...
Sunday 8am–9pm
Monday 9am–9pm
Tuesday 9am–9pm
Wednesday 9am–9pm
Thursday 8am–10pm
Friday 8am–10pm
Saturday 8am–10pm

They are currently closed for obvious reasons and are doing take-away only within an 8 mile radius

It wants someone to put these into some sort of, easy to find, geographically logical order.

God awful place.

Sounds like you're joining the M5 at J25.

Better option near there:

If "early" 8:00 onwards, go into Taunton, follow signs for the Cricket Ground, big Morrisons just after the Ground on the left. 2 miles or so from M5.

If the Toby is OK, then Morrisons should be perfectly acceptable too.

If a bit later, not sure if it opens at 9:00 or 9:30, then this never disappoints:

Literally, 5 mins from J26.

Not cheap, but really nice. Nice enough location for a rest stop too smile

If you'd not recommended this place then I would have done. Good fry-ups and also cool road-trip atmosphere with the trucks etc trundling in and out.
