Exeter with the Mrs, reccomendations?
Discussion
Off for a couple of nights in Exeter with the mrs soon for some R&R, been to Exeter lots, it's actually our nearest city, but never really made the most of it, normally just a high street shop or a Nandos.
Looking for some brilliant places to eat and drink please, im not talking Michelin starred, but more glass/rooftop/funky, kind of places you dont get in deeper darker Devon where im from.
| have been to a funky cocktail bar down the quay before, thats on the list, but somewhere outstanding for an afternoon tea on a lawn, or dinner overlooking the city/river would be great.
happy to drive out of town for either too, for the right place
Thanks

I should visit the SW forum more often, realise this may be too late, but for next time etc...
Dr. Ink's is the funky cocktail bar, just around the corner at the bottom of the cobbled hill you've got the Bierkeller. Good laugh on nights when everybody's dancing on the tables, Steins in hand!
Across the road is the Samuel Jones Smokehouse. Never had a bad meal there but it is one of those places where sometimes you'll go in wanting to try everything on the menu, then they'll change it to one where it doesn't seem any different to a Harvester. Always a good selection of ales and ciders, though.
Up the hill into the city there's the Terrace Bar for the rooftop aspect on Queen Street. Have to admit I'm a bit out the loop with drinking venues these days. Monkey Suit on Sidwell Street is still ace for cocktails I know.
On North Street there's a fantastic restaurant called the Conservatory - sort of a French/British thing on the go.
Feel free to ask for any other info.
Edit - for afternoon tea, when the sun's out nothing beats sitting outside by the Cathedral at Tea on the Green. In addition to the usual sandwiches and scones, you can also get, weirdly, an Ulster breakfast!

Thanks No Vtec, it is too late but funnily enough i did do most of your recommendations anyway
Dr inks for a cocktail or 3, then the smokehouse opposite for a beer, then the place further down the key with the arches.
Lunch sat outside in the sun overlooking the cathedral at a funky place called south street
Afternoon tea in the Du Vin gardens
Only thing we didn't do was a rooftop but that was only down to the weather, saw a few places that had one.
