Thought I'd pop the question up here before trawling around estate agents again.. Looks like a move to Bristol may well be on again.. Anyone know of a car firendly, (i.e. at least one secure off road car space) place to rent out for 6 months while I sort my life out?

Anything from the size of a 2 double bedroomed flat up would be ok. I like city centre flats, but realistically thats not going to happen. I drove along the edge of the downs last week and wondered if some of those big old houses had been converted.. That would probably do..

Hi Simon,

Where we live, the top flat is available to rent I believe at the same price as ours - but it's the Penthouse flat (ooh!). My missus, the Kirsty Allsop wannabe told me the other day about it soliciting merely a nod of acknowledgement.

Be ideal for you, plenty of parking, ideal spot, and should be big enough!

Email me and I'll get you some more info tonight!

Most (if not all) of them are flats. Secure parking can be a real issue, though, unless you find a gated place like Neil's.

Thanks Neil.. That looks just the thing..

Now, to see about getting the boss to cough up for it for a while..

Thought that the houses along the edge of the downs woudl have been converted. If the scrote quotient in Bristol is low enough, I could get away without secure parking, but on street is a definate no no..

That part of town is good for parking anyway - apart from in the summer. Other option is a 30s place at Horefield, which should come with a drive, garage etc. Have a chat with Yertis, as he seems to have a growing stable!

There is always plenty of space on the roads around me, but at my gaff (where the advert I found is) it is best of all worlds - very close to easy motorway access via the portway, close to the downs, close to town.

All but one - the nearest pub is at the top of Whiteladies!!!

I'd grab it quick as they go v quickly - we had to move quickly on our flat!

Most places around here don't have garages unfortunately - it's all on-street. My little car lives in a lock-up. The rest take their chances...

For off street parking & a garage generally modern estates are the only places you can pretty much guarantee you'll be ok. I got a couple of houses in St Annes Park, both have garages & good off road parking, its about 10 mins from town so i suppose thats the only down side... the plus side is no bloody students like Clifton, Horfield, Redland etc so that means your wing mirrors stay intact.

In St Annes Park for a modern 3 bed semi/detached your probley looking around £550/700pm so its pretty good value. I can only suggest you have a look & see whats about.

There's an old bye-law that prevents pubs in Sneyd Park and Stoke Bishop.

There are some lovely pubs in W-O-T, though, that are about the same walk as Whiteladies from yours.

Actually, I believe it was a wealthy land owner who didn't want his workers going out on the sauce and not turning up for hard graft the next day...

There's a nice two bedroom place advertised in my gym for £800pcm, in a nice area. Didn't say anything about parking though so probably no good.

Quick hunt round and the sort of place I'd ideally want is as rare as hen's teeth..

I guess I need to get work to ok it, then take a day or two to hunt around..

In reality, probably no point in chasing the ones I've found to date, chances are they will go pretty quickly. Have registerred with a coupe of estate agents so will see what happens..

Seeing it on thurs at 5.. Need to get the clients to agree that 800pcm for a flat is more economical than 1500-2000pcm for hotels..

Oddly enough, they don't seem to think thats as sensible as I do..

Pop in for a coffee if you want, I'm back by that time - you'll know cos the Golf'll be there.

Bottom flat, under the stairs - if you don't mind cats that is - we can sit out in the lovely terrace we have that come with our flat
