I want to get a diff fitted to my car, just need labour (I'd supply parts).

I'm quite new to Bristol, but I know if Interpro who are meant to be good. Any other garages people recommend so I can get a few quotes?

You used them before?

I have heard good things about bristol transmissions but the one time I tried to use them I did not have a good experience (I asked them to change the auto trans fluid, they refused as they said the box needed a £2200 rebuild, so I changed the fluid myself and the gearbox was then fine).

I have however used and can highly recommend HJ chard engineering in bristol, they made up a couple of driveshafts and cv joints for me and they were excellent. Good service and a proper garage full of extremely knowledgeable people.

My Landrover Discovery Td5 auto transmission needed replacing, every garage I approached, referred me to Bristol Transmission. That was three years/36k miles ago, no problems since. I found them very helpful, friendly and received good service from them.

I can second this, took my polo in there for a gb rebuild. It came out feeling better than when i bought it new..

Just to follow up on this, took it to a few places around Bristol including Bristol Transmissions and InterPro and all quotes in the region of £800 labour redface

So, in the end went for a Ford specialist (St Albans Car Clinic) outside of London and they are doing it for £350.

Kind of a shame I couldn't find somewhere more reasonable within Bristol, but I guess it's a relatively specific job.
