Hi, just moved to South West

Hi everybody.
Just moved down to Corsham, near Bath last week from near Scotland to pursue a career in motoring journalism (woo hoo) so I'm looking forward to getting out and about and seeing what good roads are out there. By the look of it, your curry nights are look quite intriguing too
Hope to get out this sunday in the old Cav, it needs the cobwebs blowing off it after sitting for two months in a bodyshop.
Anyhow, thought I'd best introduce myself!
Cheers - Dougie

Off topic for a minute, but what's the career in motoring journalism - are you working for a magazine or paper, how did you get into it?
Check out my profile, I just updated it right now. Always fancied the career when I was at school but got sidetracked for various reasons, including getting a car, any car at age 17! Saw the advert in the magazine asking: 'Do you think you could work for us?' So I thought, yes I can. Surprisingly I ended up gettin g the job, so here I am.
Loving the warm weather.
Hi Dougie,
Welcome "dan saff", hope you're enjoying your new role. Funny enough, I work for the same company as you (in the IT dept.), so I expect our paths will cross before too long. If you're not up to anything this Sunday, then I'm sure you'll be more than welcome to join the "Mendip Blat". You'll get to meet a few of the local PHers and get an introduction to some of the local roads too.

Ha ha! Cool. The job's been great fun so far. I'm up at Palace Yard Mews, where the entire 'Motoring Section' has been despatched. I'm going to be doing a fair bit to the car tomorrow and apparently the weather forecast is very favourable too so with any luck it'll be behaving itself and I can enjoy some new roads and some tasty lunch.
Look forward to meeting you.

Afternoon Dougie
Fellow Corsham-ite here.
as mentioned later on in the thread, if you're doing nothing this Sunday then why not join the mendip blat - I'm going, you're more than welcome to join me - we'll have a mini convoy!!
le me know.
Stop talking about curry please. I'm missing the India Cottage of Armadale West Lothian already.
In fact, that's the mission for tomorrow - find meself a curry house and then eat until (almost) physically unable to move. Anybody have any recommendations local to Corsham?
Looking forward to getting out in the car this sunday!

Their arrangment always takes place in an intiguing way, but I'd use the adjective "alarming" to describe our most recent outing.
The "alarming" hair on the waiters was only the tip of the iceberg!
Welcome Dougie. - we have some great locals to introduce you to!
