Field or track for some Rage buggying?
Discussion
Hey all, I invested in a Rage buggy late last year and it has proved to be great fun out on the roads, however these things really excel at fast off road fun. It's currently set up for road use with short firm springs and a set of sticky Yokos, but it also came with a set of longer, softer springs and off road wheels and tyres for off highway use, which I'm itching to try. The only minor challenge is I don't have a 50 odd acre field or off road route to hand to give it a try.
So does anybody know of an off road track or route in the south where I could stretch it's legs? Or even better, any landowners out there who would be up for sharing decent sized a smooth-ish field? Ideally something tucked away or by a main road, but away from any livestock, as whilst it isn't terribly noisy (~97dB) it is a big bike engine and I wouldn't want to upset the neighbours.
Thanks all!
PS here she be ready to go with the knobblies on:

Salisbury Plain!
Guessing as you have used it on the road it is road legal, this is the requirement to use it on SP
Didn't realise you could use Salisbury plain for that type of thing.Guessing as you have used it on the road it is road legal, this is the requirement to use it on SP
Won't the army get a bit pissy if you start ragging that about while they are playing soldiers?

They can hit you from a few miles away with a 4” shell if they’re not happy, don’t worry, you won’t feel a thing .Won't the army get a bit pissy if you start ragging that about while they are playing soldiers?
In seriousness I believe the original poster may well be correct as I’ve seen groups of green laners on the plain so there may also be open areas where you could play . If it’s an area used by tanks etc beware of the ruts as some can be very very deep . I’m guessing there are off road forums where you could ask the question , is there a rage buggy forum or could the buggy manufacturers help ?

And these offer buggy rides so a call to them might help. http://www.forsterracingschool.co.uk/driving-exper...

Salisbury Plain is not the right place to be "ragging it" speed limits apply, and green lanes are shared with other users, cyclists, walkers, horses, tanks etc, you need access to some private land, or better still surely these buggys are built for competition?
Tell that to the road legal off road bikers that rag it all over the plain Saleen836 said:

Yep, I even use it to commute to work occasionally!Stuart J said:

I've done some green laning in it on local byways and the Ridgeway etc. Ideal territory for it is fairly well graded grass or gravel tracks as it hasn't got the ground clearance for the really rough stuff. And I'm not really into the rough chug along stuff, I find higher speed under/oversteer more fun and controlling the buggy through the slides and transitions hence a field or rally tracks being more what I'm looking for - it is such a capable machine that anything more than a very quick squirt gets nowhere near approaching it's limits and is thoroughly unsuitable for public areas. I fancy this sort of thing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c73X31AT0pE and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w4DrVWjCORo I'll have a look for off road forums. As a company Rage has recently changed hands and the new management plan to do some events to give the owners a chance to stretch the legs of their machines.Stuart J said:

It's partly Forster's fault that I've got it - I saw their driving experience days and fancied a go, ummed and ahhed about booking one, but then saw the buggy for sale in the meantime and went the whole hog buying one instead!gareth h said:

Agree, public 'roads' aren't the place for the fast and loose style of driving sliding it about a bit. I've given it a run on a local quad/motocross track which was a great technical challenge with tights bends, jumps and plenty of oversteer, but I didn't get beyond 2nd gear! Some competition would be fun but having a young family inhibits that somewhat at the moment. I need the odd crafty day out pushing it to the limits and beyond then a few days to come down thereafter cleaning it up - it's an animal of a machine!Gassing Station | South West | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
