Got there at about 12.30, left after the second porsche race at 3.10. Mostly around quarry. Saw miniman, Iguana and Bob (forget his PH login, he doesn't post frequently).
The occasional spit of rain allowed for some good entertainment, not least of which was my umbrella buzzing away 5 metres under some overhead powerlines!

It was a good day with some interesting racing despite a small grid in the CC Special GTs. The CC saloons were as entertaining as ever and Mr Chamberlains hairy scary orange missile lapping everyone inside 20 minutes was fun to watch too. There was quite a bit of action up at Quarry brought on by the damp track and I had rather a close call with an out of control Triumph at Avon Rise in the morning warm-up but on the whole everyone was quite well behaved on our post.
There are some good pictures here taken by a chap who posts on the CC forum.

Was indeed a good day... I was round at Westway myself. Not much actually coming off there, and so a reasonably quiet day.
'twas nice to see Prebbs back, just sorry to see him end up retiring, and not having a go at the Audi!

Anyone know what the protests against the A4 were based on?? That is one quick car. As was the orange Porsche. I was stood half way down Avon Rise and me was that thing shifting.
Hey Miniman, fellow Chippenhamite
I think the complaints were based on it supposedly not being a british spec car? an import, maybe? I do not know the details of what may enter that class, but the complaints do not seem to have been upheld so far, so possibly just sour grapes at a newcomer knocking people off the top spot? Just my thoughts. I heard the driver had been doing hill climb for a long time and had done very well, and has now decided to have a go at circuit racing.
That's pretty much how I understand it too. As far as I can gather it is the non-UK spec of the car that is causing the problem. I don't think Audi sold a 1.8T Quattro in the UK, only the bigger engined models had the 4WD system fitted and the 1.8T was FWD only perhaps? I'm prepared to be miles off with that assumption though!
On another note it was good to see Tony Dolley back so soon after 're-modelling' his 206 fairly extensively last time out.
There seems to be quite a few PHing marshals down at Combe. Perhaps a pie and a coffee during the lunchbreak next meeting?

Not initially, but i think the 1.8t had a quattro option after the 1st A4 facelift around 1998/99. There was defiitely a 1.8T quattro in the A4 range at some point.

Yeah, certainly was. Having rolled his car back onto its wheels a couple of weeks earlier, it was hard to believe it was back in race condition. Good to see him well, and back out there. He did pretty well too

Heh, as long as a) we get a lunch break and b) we're not posted at Old Paddock
I'm usually (unsurprisingly) there for breakfast too
