A370 2+ lane...

Sorry search is disabled.
I had to drop the wife off at the airport this AM... and on the way home I got to use the A370 DC that now isn't.
I'm gobsmacked, what a complete and utter waste of space. It's not that I object to the concept (Ok, actually I do, but that's not important right now.) But even if the road is backed up right through the 2+ section, then the 2+ lane would only bring you forward 1/2 a mile. Then you're back into the traffic jam with everyone else. It's not like you're then allowed to use the bus lane later on.
It's inconsistent and pointless. But then what else should I expect from Bristol CC

I've actually changed the route I take to get into Bristol because of all the roadworks on the A38 and this stupid new +2 lane.
I used to take the A38 then cut accross to the A370 at Barrow Gurney. Then through the Cumberland Basin and out on the Portway to get to Westbury-on-Trym.
Now I take the M5 as it's quicker, even through it adds 5 miles to my journey!

I discovered this as they were putting the lane in and posted about it at the time. After I made the mistake of using the A370 instead of hopping on the motorway and coming in via the A369.
I stopped using the A370 a looooong time ago. Too many dawdling idiots doing 35-40 in a 50 mph zone that should be NSL. And very few opportunities to overtake.
And has anyone seen what they've done to that A38??
Coming into bristol, after the next big set of light after the airport, they've resurfaced the road, and put in a 30 MPH speed limit. WHAT THE FK ARE THEY ON?????? 30 mph is bloody ridiculous on that road!
Now we wait for the scameras to be fitted. Where's me petrol can......

That road used to be real fun. Had some good times in the GT6 back then. Freedom seems a distant memory.
Are you saying that the 30MPH signs are staying from bristol airport to bishopsworth. HOW FCUKING daft can you get. no schools, never anyone walking on that road. FOR FUKC SACK that are they doing to the area.
And the govermeant ssay how roads are getting better
HUNTS the lot of them, Fecking Hunts
Sorry for that

"That road used to be real fun" I will never forget taking the Boss's 4.2 Cerbera down into Bristol at 140mph with my mate curled up in the passenger footwell s!*@ing himself. When we hit the bridge expansion plates the car leapt into the air and I nearly joined him!! At least I could use the 2+ lane now though...

Are we sure that the 30mph limit is permanent?
Looking through our wonderful council's website revealed this document: Clicky, which seems to suggest it's only whilst the roadworks are there. Although quite how they think Bridgwater Road (A38) is in Long Aston I'm not sure
That is true - I went to the airport this morning and the 30 mph signs are still on temporary stands - certainly from Barrow Gurney turning towards the airport.
