Recommend a garage in/near Bristol?
Discussion
My wife's citigo wants an oil service and a pollen filter from a garage (to generate a record). Skoda want £200 which I think is ridiculous, and my local friendly garage has changed hands and now want 3/4 of the dealer price (and I don't know/trust them and am getting bad vibes). Can anyone recommend a no-nonsense and trustworthy garage for a while-you-wait service? I'm about ready to say sod the last year's warranty and DIY...

Just looked up on Skoda's website and according to a random car I entered 14plate 1.0 the cost of a minor service was only £149.http://www.skoda.co.uk/owners/service-and-maintena...
I had a 1.0 green thing and it only cost me £99 to get an oil change. So I would check out why they are charging so much as a full service is only supposed to be £269

I think it's the 15 plate that does it...http://www.skoda.co.uk/owners/service-and-maintena...

JP autos want £140+VAT, so a grand saving of £31 over the dealership. The dealership can squeeze us in in 2 weeks. How kind.
I'm still incredulous...must be getting old or something...f*ck the warranty, I think I'll go to GSF...3 litres of oil, an oil filter and a pollen filter please.

You shouldn't be giving up the warranty they aren't allowed to do that now....well that is my understanding.I'm still incredulous...must be getting old or something...f*ck the warranty, I think I'll go to GSF...3 litres of oil, an oil filter and a pollen filter please.
However you are going to lose the roadside assistance and any updates to the ECU. So for the sake of £31 I would go to the dealer...but most will give you 10% with little haggling...so chat to them first

I think the current get-out is you must prove original parts were used, but yes, not much of a saving! Economics 101 and all that, but I feel violated nonetheless. I'll see if Skoda Bath are any more accommodating. However you are going to lose the roadside assistance and any updates to the ECU. I can't imagine what an ECU update would do for us, the car is fine. Most of the items on the 2nd service list are guff/filler. Bitter? Me?

if you are happy to come to Bath then I used to take my CityGo to these guys which is 10 miles further near Chippenham. They were cheaper than anyone

Thanks - however, given my wife now knows where Skoda Bath is and its proximity to the shopping centre I think it's inevitable that Platinum Skoda will relieve me of £200. Part of the problem with Blade Skoda (Bristol) is they are a pain in the arse about while-you-wait servicing...if platinum are as bad there will be further collateral damage as she finds unnecessary things to buy...http://monmotorschippenham.co.uk/service-parts
