Can anyone recommend a Decat friendly MOT centre in Bristol? It'll be for a Megane RS.

I don't have it yet, but judging feasibility of getting one come MOT time, before taking the plunge.

I wouldn't imagine that any of them would want the publicity?

Try your main dealer, should be fine.

I was thinking my local main dealer as they've done some work on previous cars, so might be worth an ask

Yeah, ask them to give the car a thorough going over for any work that might need doing too, they'll look after you in exactly the manner you deserve.

It's going in for it's belts, thermostat, pumps, and a full service so I may ask about it.

I haven't had it done yet, but it's in the pipeline so want to find one first.

It's quite hard to find a bent MOT station nowadays so you may have your work cut out

Hopefully that'll limit opportunities for selfish knobs to decat their cars.

If you get stuck, private mail me. It wouldn't stop me doing it.

I don't know much about the exhaust on the car you are getting but most systems can be built with removable cats that can be replaced for the MOT so worth exploring that option as a fall back if you can't find a helpful MOT station .

The place mentioned here might be worth a call it appears they can refit cats so might be able to fabricate boltable decat sections. http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Why have you made your car illegal?

Can't you put a sport catalyser on it and not run the risk of getting your car impounded and receiving a fine?

My car has two catalysers (one for each ban of cylinders) and it's plenty powerful enough...
