Cheeky request for help - Devon - Prom transport Thurs 23rd
Discussion
Hi all from a newbie.
I've been steered towards PH by a good friend who is a regular. I look at the site sometimes but have never registered until now.
I'm in a bit of a pickle. Last year my (then 14yr old) lad saw the school leaver's prom. Several kids arrived in interesting ways, big tractors, limos, Hummers, Ferraris, Astons, etc. He was dead keen on doing the same this year now his exams are over. He's saved his money and spent it on a suit (!) from Moss Bros, so as his prom is at a swanky country house hotel that advertised helicopter landings we decided on a real treat - go by chopper!
So, I found a charter company, arranged permission to land at the local footy pitch to pick him up, organised a mate to go with him, and then the Hotel dropped a bombshell today - they won't allow him to land. No reason given, despite their website offering it as a service. I've pleaded with them, but to no avail
So now I'm stuffed - I'm working all day tomorrow, can't get out of it, and I have no time at all on Thursday to do anything.
My Mum said "Don't you know anyone with a nice car?" and then offered me my Nephew's new Zafira.... Errrmmm. (Bless her, she's 88...)
Then my mate said "It's a shame you're not on pistonheads - they might know someone..."
So, at risk of offending some people with my cheek I thought I'd give it a go.
I'd be very grateful and generous, if you catch my drift.
So, is there any PH'er out there with a James-Bond motor that would like a scenic tour of Mid-Devon on Thursday evening for an hour or so?
Peace and Love
Andy.

Talk about ambiguity lol ...I would ask the hotel owner to clarify on the landing permission and if they are good to go, just use the original planned method! damned school beaurocrats and their red-tape and namby-pamby-ness

It's not the school (sod them - I wouldn't take any notice anyway)... it's the nob at the hotel.
I remember a thread like this recently, albeit for a wedding. There were multiple people offering all types of luxury cars to help out. Really brought out the good in PH.
Here we have a young man with his heart set on making a 'cool' entrance to his school prom and people are just being total and utter C-words about the whole thing? Do half of you remember being around that age? The things that seemed cool and amazing?
Christ, I hope somebody close by with a decent motor sees this.
A lot of you really are horrible bds sometimes.

Thank-you kindly, you've restored my faith a bit. I'd be glad to help if I could, whilst I don't agree with the increasing Americanisation of the UK I do like driving my car, being loud and helping people
I recently helped a good mate of mine who was in the same situation with his daughter. Although she didn't want a bond entrance, she wanted to be noticed and everyone to look at her.
We arrived popping and banging in true hooligan style, not a single person looked the other way - and most had no idea what car it was, job jobbed
