Is anyone interested in a meet-drive around Exmoor?

I was thinking of around 200 miles of driving with a stop for a pub lunch or fish and chips or both I guess.

Depending on where most people are coming from we could start on the outskirts of taunton before heading onto Exmoor or we could start in Devon and head onto Exmoor.

I could be up for it on a sunny Sunday - the Facebook group that linked me to this thread is a local Bristol one so a few of us might be keen on heading down and going from Taunton as suggested.

Hi Ian, are you on the FB group Giles set up? May get more responses from that.

I may be up for it, the 996 needs brakes I think (light came on twice but stayed off when ignition turned off & back on so who knows?!).

Cool cheers

No sadly not as got some friends over sat night and will be a late one with lots of alcohol so balls to getting up early.

Always up for a hoon.

Where you based I am just outside of Milveron and assuming the wife doesn't have work on and can have the kids up for a drive most weekends in the summer.

I spent four days around Ilfracombe last weekend, and we arrived by driving through Exmoor.

All I can say, is that I am extremely envious of your local roads.

Good condition, mostly, with some lovely sweeping to tight turns in great countryside.

Wish I lived down that way as I would be right up for a hoon.

I'm out lydeard way.

Your best way onto exmoor is head to wiveliscombe onto the b3227 then a396 which takes you right across exmoor ro dunster
or head to dulverton then onto the b3223 all the way to watersmeet which is the route i took.

Also look out for the haynes museum breakfast clubs ( 1st sunday of the month) there worth going to as you get a wide array of cars turning up.

Dulverton lets it down, too busy and that really narrow climb out of it is a pain in the ass, especially if the hunts on.

Fortunately, we went Dunster/Wheddon Cross/Simonsbath/Challacombe....

Sounds perfect for me. Be back from Scotland by then and before the Holidays kick off.

Real close then, have family in Lydeard so there all the time (used to live in Cotford).

Put allot of miles on these (shameless car pic) on those roads but not ventured up further onto Exmoor.

Will pm you to arrange a date for a drive out. Work from home mostly so always up for an evening drive out too.

Cheers
Raf

I'd be up for this depending on date. Money is too tight to humour it at the moment but I used to live on the edge of Exmoor so gagging to get back out there in the 944.

Would a June date be too soon ?
