PH drive out over Exmoor 3 / 4 years ago
Discussion
Don't ask me who organised it, but a few years back someone organised a drive out over Exmoor. I believe it started in Dunster but could have been somewhere else. Went up to the north devon / A39? coast road, out west to Lynmouth way, back over the moor to Simonsbath and back to Dunster way, probably down the nice twisty road back to Tiverton.
Just wondering
a) who it was
and
b) do you still have info relating to the route I can re-use and save me a little time?
Thanks

Spot on! ThanksHoping to replicate it, or something close to it, for my advanced driving group's annual little drive out. Need to turn it into a sort of treasure hunt though.

That was a indeed a good day.
Your Big old Merc was very amusing on those twisty roads. Then followed Paul back to Exeter in his Noble. I've been back a around very similar routes twice since, with the Z4 guys, we had sightly better weather last year. .
Must do a run that way with PH next summer :driving

Wonder if I was on a different day because I remember it being really wet and the road up from Tiverton to Dunster was pretty treacherous.
Nope you were definitely there and it was pi$$ing down all the way. I remember hitting a long puddle at speed coming back across Exmoor, on the single track road and my Zed aquaplaning. Lucky I enjoy Adrenalin. The second pick was last summer with the Z4 crew.BuzyG said:

If coming from taunton you could have a treasure location at one of the steam railways either bishops lydeard or stogumber then another at combe sydenham then head up to wheddon cross, exford, simonsbath over the moor and drop down into watersmeet.

Devon way, so probably going to make a pub on the road between Tivvy and Dunster the base and make a route from it.If coming from taunton you could have a treasure location at one of the steam railways either bishops lydeard or stogumber then another at combe sydenham then head up to wheddon cross, exford, simonsbath over the moor and drop down into watersmeet.
