I was at the Autumn Classic last weekend and struggled to get much in the way of 'head on' shots/ exit from corner shots due to either an obscured view from structures or you don't have enough elevation to get over the fence. All I managed to get was a load of side on panning shots with an odd couple of shots (just) from Bobbies back to Tower...a few gratuitous shots

You can get some head on shots of cars exiting Quarry from the area that juts out by The Esses, but you'd need something like a 500mm lens, and whenever I've been on a busy day there are usually a couple people camped out there with MASSIVE L-series lenses on tripods so you've got no chance of getting in there.
The best place for head on shots is the slight rise as they come out of Westway and on the straight before camp. There is a section of armco which is low and perfect for good photos as its very close to the track. They may not be completely straight for head on shots but its not far off and a pretty quiet location as far as spectators go, especially in the mornings.
mine at 200mm for a on circuit shot

i find the 200mm to be just about ok around quarry and hammerdown, but no where near enough to get decent 'head on' shots.
