Any locals have any advice with regards to where to view the air show part of Yeovil air day without buying a ticket... have an OS map so grid ref would be handy!

I would do, it's the time not the cash, I simply don't have the time to spend all day there and risk getting caught in traffic jams leaving (4 hrs to leave Wings and Wheels last year!)

I'm going to RIAT for the weekend, I just want to see XH558 fly tomorrow.

Park in Ilchester and walk towards yeovilton. You can stand/sit/watch at the end of the runway. I've been down there all afternoon watching them fly in. Roads are shut but you can walk down them. I only live a mile away. They have closed off the fields at the other end of the runway which was better viewing.

Any idea what time XH558 is due to fly past? Would love to see her,

Well I got here just in time to see her do a straight flyby on the way to Wales, apparently back later this afternoon for the full display but I don't know what time I'm afraid.

Thx for the update. Tamar Bridge is pretty much shut today. So we decided to stay home. Enjoy and if you get a few Pics would love to see them.

Well you missed a rare show - full-on Vulcan Howl, a wonderful flypast with a (the only airworthy!) Sea Vixen and two Vampires, and after it returned from Swansea - then a very fine flight demonstration. More howling... after which XH558 streamed its braking parachute on landing one last time here.

Here's my snap of it taxiing to final stand after its likely last-ever landing at RNAS Yeovilton. BTW, the hangers in the background comprise the original Yeovilton V-bomber dispersal area.
