As title says, anyone fancy a leisurely drive for a few hours on Saturday morning from Plymouth. Thinking up onto the moors to pootle around and surrounding areas. Won't be mad speed as ill be in the lomax (30bhp of fury), full revs all round...

Start relatively early (7.30am ish) from some large open car park in/near centre? Suggestions welcome.

(weather dependant - we will make the final call on Friday eve)

We could have an anti-PH drive out - I've got a 90HP Carina outside.

However AFAIK there's only one 7:30 on a saturday, and it isn't before noon smile

I may be available for this, but I may need to go a little more briskly at that time of day.

It seems my morning is already booked, and seems to involve gloss paint and a brush frown

I'm going to abandon the drive out tomorrow morning for a few reasons.

1- I went out this afternoon and got lost (arrived home nearly 4 hours later with a lot of sunburn) I started to drive up to yealverton and wound my way around the moors until I ended up at Ashburton, then went via Totnes and modbury back.

2- I have been out with some friends tonight and have just got in and am very tired.

3- no one else appears to be going.

4- having pissed off SWMBO today by being late for something else (because I got lost in the Lomax) it isn't being looked on very favourably atm.

Have a nice weekend folks!!

I don't know where all the regular SW PH guys have gone, they've all disappeared. Time was that i'd get 10 people jumping at this sort of blast.

I'll see who turns up at Sherbourne Castle next weekend

Seems odd to me how few PHers there are down here. When I lived in Cheshire and I put this sort of thing (couple of days notice) id get 10-15people who couldn't go because of other commitments and about 6 people turn up.

With a weeks+ warning you'd get 15-20 cars!

I guess the density of large cities close by kinda helped though (Liverpool, Manchester, Chester) plus all the large towns. Still, there are a lot of excellent roads down here... Maybe in general people in Devon just aren't into cars as much?

No there are plenty of us, ive organised meets from Plymouth with 25-30 people taking part. They just seem to of disappeared at the moment.

My advice would be to attend the next Haynes meet, it will reinstate your faith in PH - As I am hoping it will mine. Last time there were probably 150 cars there plus the museum

Hi Dave - calendar looks like this at the mo...
Sunday 19th July - Sherbourne Classics at the castle
Sunday 26th July - Pentillie Fest of Motoring or Modified Mania
Sunday 2nd August - Haynes Museum Breakfast meet (convoy from Exeter)
Sunday 6th Sept - Haynes Museum Breakfast meet

I reckon I will organise a SWPH event somewhere Dartmoor'ish in August.

Having never heard of a Lomax until this week, I've just had a look.

Hilarious, nice cheap alternative to a Morgan trike, probably even fit in the garage.

Add in a hardtop and the wife could use it for work smile

Thanks Giles, will try to make a Haynes meet & a Dartmoor one sounds great. The 996 is in next week for MoT/Service & minor (ish) suspension refresh, should handle properly again afterwards!

I have a thread in the owners cars section....

It is pretty hilarious, although you can hussle it along if you're ballsy enough for the body roll!

Hi Giles still here and still taking the Zed out for a blast most weekends. Will be at Sherbourne this weekend. Is there a local convoy heading up? I think Chris & Les are heading up too.

I would be up for Plymouth meets after July as I have been preparing for a job interview, also balancing that with buying a house means my free time has been swallowed up!

Have seen plenty of nice cars in Plymouth, so there is hope that there are more PH minded people down here!
