Good eating pub near Cheddar?
Discussion
My and the OH planning to go to Cheddar Gorge on Saturday am for a mooch round in the XR2, then lunch.
Then stop for lunch.
Don't necessarily want something super fancy, but just something better/different from the same old pub grub.
Was planning to go to the Castle of Comfort near the top of the Gorge, but it looks like it's changed hands; the menu is just a huge list of different steaks...
Any recommendations? Preferably not too far north or west of Cheddar.

Not far away from the Castle of Comfort. Never had a bad meal there yet.

The Bath Arms in the middle of Cheddar is a huge improvement on its old self (though it's now 48 hourse since I last ate there). The Queen Vic in Priddy (north/east of Cheddar) has always been good, likewise the Swan at Rowberrow (north/west). The pubs in Wedmore (south) tend to be a bit pretentious, but if you're prepared to go a bit further afield for a fantastic place you could do a lot worse than the rather quirky Sheppey at Godney (south/east) - definitely the one I'd recommend if you're heading back Dorset-wards.
