Hi chaps

I've got a green card to head out on the bike tomorrow afternoon about 3.30. The plan is to go into Wales, stay over in a B&B and come back early Sunday. Back to Bristol by lunchtime. I reckon a 350-400 mile loop should so it.

Anyone recommend a good loop route around Wales? Im thinking along the lines of up through Abergavenny, Brecon, Landovery and Tregaron to Aberystwyth. Stay over and back in the morning.

Thanks.

Old bridge to Chepstow. B4235 to Usk then 4598 to Abergavenny. Pick up the Heads of the Valleys road then peel off and go over the mountain on the B4560 to Llangynidr.

You've got a choice at Brecon, the 4520 goes north and is an awesome but very twisty road more suited to a car, I'd actually take the A40 and head west to Llandovery as it is an awesome ribbon of tarmac very suited to the bike. Then head north on the A483 to Builth, before picking up the A470/A44 to Aberystwyth. Stay there.

In the morning, head back along the A44 but instead go to Newtown, then pick up the A483 all the way back to Builth. Continue south to Abergavenny, then maybe for the last bit bimble along the A40 to Monmouth then come down the Wye Valley to finish off back to Chepstow.

Bosh.

First sentence is one of my favourite blats in the Caterham thumbupdriving I usually do the B4560 a couple of times in each direction as it's a great road. The rest sounds fun too.

Drove in wales a week ago and found that the A4061/A4064 (Treorchy, Ogmore Vale, Llangeinor) was good fun and some great views along the way. Saw plenty of bikers in lay-bys, so assume it's good for bikes too...

The mountain road is now a 40 limit from end to end sadly - presumably because people keep falling of it :-(

How about this route?

It's pretty much all my favourite bits of South Wales - some of it in both directions. 307 miles starting and finishing at Aust, should fit the time available OK.

Thanks guys. Holed up in a seaside Hiral for the evening. Amazing run up. Left a five pm so all quiet on the way up.

This is breakfast!
