Nice food in/around Cheddar
Discussion
Most places I've eaten at in Cheddar are pretty grim. Seem to cater for the tourists and the quality isn't great.
I was suprised by how nice the food was at the New Inn, at Cross just up the road:

We were staying at the Webbington but my meal there was nicer and very close to tempting us back for the second night. And it has a decent country pubish feel with a dog wandering about etc.
Don't go to the Riverside Inn in Cheddar. The food was average to crap and the service deathly slow. It looks nice though and is roomy and well decorated inside.

Lived in Cheddar long enough and this is the only place that is continually good.
Recommended.
5-10mins from Cheddar is this http://www.theswanwedmore.com/
Great food, great place, and it's not stupidly expensive either! Also Wedmore is a really nice little village

Sorry, completely forgot to update the thread and thank everyone!Ended up eating at The Swan (where I was staying anyway!), then eating some food from the christmas market in Wedmore the next night - fantastic!
Not sure I'd rate the food in The Swan, but it was alright.
