Scrap engine required
Discussion
Hi all
Does anybody have a scrap engine they want rid of?
I promised my eldest son (aged 7) we could get hold of something with a view to stripping it down.
He's really keen to learn how they work and I figured the best way to learn the basics was to pull one apart.
I don't want to spend a fortune as I'll end up scrapping (recycling) the parts but I'd like something preferably not seized so we can get the pistons and rods out.
I'm happy to collect in the boot of my car in and around the Bristol area.
Thanks for reading this far down my waffle.
Mark;)

You can have a 1.8T (Octavia vRS engine) from me for the weight of scrap, so say tenner. It was a fully working engine but is now outside looking sorry for itself with no cam cover on so the cams have started to get a bit surface rust.
It's in Exmouth too, which is probably too far for you to travel, but opportunity is there. Engine is still complete in terms of timing belt, cams, bottom end, head bolted to block etc.

It might be easier to get an old bike or bike engine.
I know they're a bit different to car ones, but they're also a lot smaller and lighter, which might be an advantage when playing with one on the kitchen table with a 7 year old and then hiding the bits before your wife comes in.
[checks over shoulder]
and the bits are small enough to put in the dishwasher to clean them.
