Ok.. I dont know chippenham, but there is a fantastic one in Melksham called the Sultan. Is that a bit too far to travel?

Also have the Melksham Tandoori, this is also pretty fantastic.

A mate lives in Chippenham, will ask him tomorrow. smile

In Chippenham, try the Tale of Spice on the Malmesbury road (old King Alfred pub) - excellent food, very modern restaurant. In town, Ashoka is probably the top choice.

I have found it OK in there, been 3-4 times.
Last time I went it was unlicensed so bring your own - no corkage which can save some money but can be a pain at the end of the night.

Had a take out from Tale of Spice 2 weekends ago and it was dreadful, people who I was with have been there before and said it was good but they agreed this time wasn't good at all. May be coincidental but they got raided by immigration a few weeks back so I wonder if they lost their star chef.

Taj Mahal at the top of town (Nr Rose & Crown) used to be my choice location but that was a few years back.

Another vote for the Melksham Tandoori from me...I go there regularly....and the food, welcome etc are fantastic! well worth the drive from Chippenham, and only 5-6 miles

Yeah, there is a huge car park next to it (right as you look at the entrance) for melksham town. Free after 6pm.

I recommend making a reservation. The place is big (on the inside) but its fairly popular. smile

(Heres a pic from google)
