Just had two Spitfires - one sporting the D-Day wing stripes - fly over the house after their salute to the veterans at Gloucestershire Airport.

Heard them way before I saw them.

Awesome sight & sound.

My 8 year actually saluted them as they flew over!!!!!

When asked why he said 'the pilots were very brave weren't they!'

It was the Battle of Britain memorial flight Spitfire and Hurricane. We landed just before them, so thankfully I managed to see them, as I'd missed them at the Weston Air Festival due to working! Epic sound smile

We live a little nornth of Cheltenham and had a De Havilland Vampire flyo ver yesterday afternoon, it was quite low and sounded amazing.

Mrs B said we had a big four engined thing floy pover on saturday, I wonder if that was the B17? We get a lot of Hercules fly over, but she says it wasn;t one of those.

It was the Venom on ts way home I assume after it displayed at Weston. Flew over my house less than 8 minutes after it finished its display.

The Vampire did not display yesterday so the classic jets were the Canberra, the Venom & the mighty Vulcan.

They all flew over the wartime in the vale thing just outside Evesham yesterday. There was an Auster spotter plane which flew over at incredibly low speeds, then the Spitfire and a Hurricane, then the Meteor.

I've been meaning to go to the event at Evesham for years, but always found something else to do. This year my youngest son's been studying WW2, so I made the effort. It was a fantastic day out.

I'm afraid so. There will have been a lot of people (me included) who went to work with a sunburn on Monday. Well worth it, though.

At least one if not both of the spitfires have been using Cotswold Airport at Kemble recently, and I think the Vampire too. I was at the AV8 cafe for lunch one day and sat watching the Spits practice some turns and loops. Have a look at Cotswold Airports Facebook page as they do update with what's coming in and out.
