Swindon to High Wycombe commute
Discussion
As the title...anyone commute to High Wycombe? Whats it like? How long on average does it take?
I have a potential new job which means commuting to HW daily...at the moment my current job is in Green Park, Reading so its an easy commute (relatively speaking)...just wondering if getting to HW daily is a pain in the ass or not???

I don't commute that journey but live in the Marlow area so can tell you that the A404 gets very busy leading up to the Handycross roundabout after about 8am. I presume you'll get on the M4 and come off on the Maidenhead junction, which means you'll get on the A404 and hit the problems.
You could, however, get off the A404 at Marlow and use the Marlow Bottom road (?) which runs parallel to the A404 and can gain some good time getting on to the A404.
Have a look on Google Maps (other e-maps applications are available)and you'll see what I mean.

I used to drive in that part of the world alot a few yrs back, and the A404 required plenty of patients back then
Routes north from the M4 are limited, and there are no easy alternatives to the A404
There are some excellent cross-country drives between Swindon and High Wycombe through the Chilterns though
If I had to commute that journey I'd probably end up using the roads running along the base of the Chilterns - Wantage - Didcot - Watlington

I was caught coming out of marlow onto the 404 just yesterday, straight off the sliproad into traffic! It took 45 mins to get two miles up the hill. I dont know why I didn't take my own advice and use the back road up to the roundabout!Routes north from the M4 are limited, and there are no easy alternatives to the A404
