A man fell off a ladder in Devonport Dock Yard, I kid you not, made the news!!!! Had he been loading the nuclear war-heads at the time, fair-play, but come on, there must be more worthy news!!!!!
If its in the dockyard, there will be 20 health and safety inspectors crowding the scene, with clip boards of course. Then the yard will be shut down for 2 days for paperwork completion, then the union will decide its unsafe and it will take days to re-open.
I have been educated that its quite a big deal, to get an injured non-mobile person off a submarine as they are so tight for space. Not wide enough for a stretcher !
The passageways are not even wide enough for two people to pass and all ladders are vertical steel ones , if you are injured in a fall 3 decks down ,,,you are in trouble !
