As the title suggests, looking for a strip of road surface which is private and dead smooth. Not looking for any highways as we are wishing to experiment slow speed photography over a distance of no more than quarter of mile. The car in question will only be travelling at 5mph.. Can any of you point us in the right direction, access to a private smooth road ideally some where in north Wiltshire and / or South Cotswold region. Any help, suggestions will be very much appreciated. For the record, I have tried asking Kemble airfield where we once put this into practise, however, they can no longer help us out.

Thank you

What about the old airfield at RAF Down Ampney. I know Cirencester car club us it as a rally stage so the landowner (Co-Op Farms) seems to be OK to allow it to be used. Have a look on Google Maps to see the extent of the runways which are concrete but god quality for age. Or try the old RAF airfield at South Cerney next to the JAMC. Its used but only occasionally by the parachute aeroplane.

Ian - thanks for this. I know both sites and will certainly look into both of them. Many thanks for your help. From one TVR owner to another... Cheers.

If you're looking to get photos like this you'd be amazed how slow, and how little road, you need. Think 1-2mph and distances of 10 feet.

You could do it on your drive.

Very true! Ideally looking for somewhere different with open space too and possible a bend as well. Not asking for much I know!!!!
