Hi all,

the M3 is being retired from the daily grind soon (bought a Mundaneo oil burner for the commute) so the M3 will be used purely for fun until I finally get round to something newer/nicer/whatever.

I'm planning on getting 'her' tidied up inside and out and possibly making a few minor tweeks a long the way.

To start with, I wanted to find out what she is actually putting out compared to the factory BHP, so can anyone recommend a South West rolling road?

(I seem to remember Powerstation at Tewkesbury having quite a few recommendations?)

Circuit Motors at Castle Combe seem to have a steady stream of interesting stuff outside.

Used Interpro at Thornbury years ago, seemed pretty knowledgeable. That was probably six years ago though.

The guys who looked after my Mustang recommended Interpro too.

Theres one on the Tewkesbury Road in Cheltenham that I used when I was mapping my Griff. Bloke by the name of Dave. Good outfit with realistic figures (if you really can check these things!)

Trouble is I cant remember the name of the outfit frown

Hopefully someone will...

Matt

The guys at FCM in Bristol will do a live map on the road (with a laptop) but dont have the rollers. I use them for the evo.

Powerstation are Ok but a bit expensive from what I hear

These guys are good http://www.indigo-gt.com/ just over the bridge

Alternatively, for a chat and review of the car, with knowledgeable people who dont charge strictly by the hour (mark the owner), I would say its worth the journey down here to mb motorsport. I would use them but they dont have a 4wd rolling road only 2wd

For rolling road alone, I would use the dyno dynamics machine at Alan Jefferys in Plymouth "Engine Tuner"

Not sure how good they are at doing other stuff as heard mixed reports, but done a couple of dyno days there with reliable figures being produced.

Badger 5 in Stonehouse, Glos? He's got a reputation amongst VW/SEAT circles for having a particularly conservative dyno that shames many of the claims made by the big tuners (REVO, APR and the like). Given his reputation as a tuner and competition engine builder I'm inclined to think "particularly conservative" is another way of saying "accurate".

Thats the badger smile

IIRC there are 2 businesses...the larger garage business at the front (where Mark Adams has been known to go I think...or I might just be making that bit up biggrin ) plus Dave with his rollers in a building behind them.

Top bloke anyway

I've used Circuit Motors before, they mapped my E30. I've also heard good things about Mech Motorsport as above.

The Power station at Ashchurch are ok. Friend of mine that builds specials for TV uses them, and I have used them for race car set up.

there is no reliable rolling road all the numbers are able to be manipulated it just depends on the operators agenda you would be better making sure the car is running properly rather than paying somebody to make up top trumps numbers
I once went to 3 different rolling roads in a single weekend I had figures ranging from 370hp to 550hp with no changes to the car

i highly recommend tipton st john garage, the rolling road can handle 700hp and 4 wheel drive, i had my duratec elise sorted last november, very reasonable price for all day session. lovely people as well. i will not hesitate going back there in the future.

i must say i agree with chimtvr about how accurate various rolling road results are, but all i can add is that the manufacture of my conversion kit says i should have a easy 180+hp on a 2 liter duratec from a fiesta st with throttle bodies, custon ecu and exhaust, and i had 190.5hp at 7100rpm. the man who did the rolling road(steve) answered all my questions and gave extra advice.

recommended as i said before.

Best rolling road I have found in the south west is http://www.powerstation.org.uk/index.asp

I've had figures from every where and they are the only consistent people, 100% on standard figures for 3 of my cars without knowing the cars were standard, and up a tiny bit on the two cars that had been modified when they had been done again.
