Does anyone know where I can find (or have) a garage to rent in Gloucester/Ledbury/Tewkesbury area? I live in the Forest of Dean council area and they don't seem to offer anything unlike some other councils.

Looking for something at least big enough to store and work on one car in comfortably - not really fussed about power etc because I could just buy a cheap generator but it'd need to be situated somewhere that making a load of noise doing work wouldn't be an issue during reasonable hours.

I'm pretty flexible to be honest - just looking for a bit of a break from working on the driveway in the rain (and somewhere to store my tools to keep the Mrs happy!)

I think Merlin took over from South Glos and have some for rent in places like Thornbury, but Gloucester city only have them for local residents apparently.
Not sure about Led/Tewks.

Here's the Merlin link: http://www.merlinhs.co.uk/Residents/Renting-a-gara...

thumbup - I'll see what they can offer. Can't seem to find much available, even something slightly bigger than just a single garage

I've rented council garages for a few years now from Stroud district council (just down the road from Gloucester) the maintenance is dreadful and they are bloody tiny. What's even more frustrating is the price.

Five years ago I paid £13pm for one garage large enough to fit a VW Polo in with a wall of wheels/tyres at the back. You'd still end up performing some kind of contortion to get in/out of the car if you drove it in. At that price though I didn't grumble. Then the price became £25, £35, £55, £65 now £68 - that's double what friends of mine in London pay and triple friends in Leeds!

Now some may say that's still cheap for somewhere to store things, well the reality is the surrounding council flats are not the most welcoming and full of weirdos *Sad as it is to say one garage was subject to an attempted break in only 2 weeks ago* these garages (i rent 3) are the best of a bad bunch.

I to would be quite interested to see what sort of storage solutions there are around Gloucester to. My ideal unit is secure, lit , has electric, is in a relatively remote area for noise purposes, has room for 4-6 cars
