It's me again biggrin

New contract down your way again, Gloucester this time

Does anyone have any suggestions for Hotels/B&Bs at a reasonable price (max £50/night) for 4 nights a week please?

I'll be at Barnwood, but happy to travel up to 30 minutes

thumbup As the nights get brighter, hopefully I'll make it to another Curry!

If you're in Barnwood then there is an Ibis on the Barnwood Roundabout

Ibis is good, a mate booked a month in advance and got a very good price. There are quite a few places within 30mins but some big roadworks will be causing traffic carnage in the Barnwood area soon, so getting a local place within walking distance would be a benefit.

If you're working at the energy place then they have flats on site that are cheaper than the Ibis and have breakfast provided.

In rush hour 30 minutes won't get you far from Barnwood, assuming you're in Lloyds/EDF/HP park. Ibis has the benefit of being nearer to a couple of shops, the 10 bus into town. There's a premier inn at Barnwood but it's a bit isolated.

Cheers guys, I knew the Ibis, but didn't know traffic etc

Can be better to travel a bit further out, eg Bristol I used Tortworth as one junction away & better hotel (cheaper!)

Have a look at a few B&Bs on hotels.com and booking.com as well, then ring them up and haggle a bit.

I prefer this sort of place to a chain type hotel, often a lot more accommodating.

I went to a conference the other week and picked a pub nearby rather than the corporately booked Campanile, Ibis, Premier Inn etc.

Went in for dinner and he said "You've £25 allowance for food and one soft drink"
"What soft drinks do you have?"
"Coke, lemonade, tonic, fruit juices, Pedigree, London Pride, Carlsberg..."
We ate, then he said "Dessert?"
"What is there?"
"Chocolate fudge cake, apple pie, Ice cream, Pedigree, London Pride, ...."

The advantage of somewhere Olde Worlde that doesn't have an electronic till with automatic itemised bills smile
