Hi all

I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for VAG specialists in the Cheltenham area?

Up until now I've been using Pioneer Service Centre and they've been very good; however I had no response for them for a fair while when trying to book my car in for two new tyres (they were undercutting the tyre places by a fair margin- a pair of Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2s fitted and balanced for about £180). On calling them I found that their service manager and my usual point of contact is "no longer with them" which has left me a little on edge as I've had good experiences with them in the past but have previously been stung by garages who have undergone major changes and become cowboys. Not to insinuate that this has happened in this case, but it would be nice to keep my options open.

Any PH recommendations in the area? Even better, any PHers work for specialists or good indies in the area?

I've heard very good things about Cleevely Motors.

Have used Challenge Motors in the past. A bit chaotic and overgrown themselves a bit, but decent work.

I used to use Challenge when I had my Golf Rallye but that was years ago so not very relevant. St Pauls Garage do all my work now, they're just off the Bath Rd and I think have some link with Cleevely that you mention. I've had great service from them over the last 8 years or so. There's been the odd mistake but as with everything it's the way mistakes are dealt with that count. Highly recommend them.

Thanks for the responses.

I've been on the phone with Cleevley over the week an initial signs are very promising.

Firstly, they're in near-constant demand and running appointments about two weeks ahead at the moment- which is always a good indicator.
Secondly, they've near-as-makes-no-difference matched the best quote I'd had for tyres, which is nice.
Finally they've given me what I consider to be a reasonable quote for my PCV replacement- most places were quoting one hour labour at ~£70 but they just said "£20 to fit". I'm aware that it isn't a big job and I could do it myself but at that kind of price it seems silly not to.

Had a good chat with the owner, seems like a decent and honest guy, car's going in on the 5th Feb so will report back.

I have just booked the A6 into V-hub at Tewkesbury for an Inspection 2 and brake fluid change. They are half the price of the dealer and use all Audi parts. They also offered a courtesy car. It will be interesting to see how they perform

I had similar experience with them few weeks ago, (x2 emails sent, both read but no response!), ended up calling in as was driving past Kingsditch few days later anyway.

Turns out, they got a new guy on the desk, was literally his first week. Seems nice chap, was telling me he was ex VW main dealer mechanic. Got the job sorted there and then, was only a minor side light admittedly tho..

For tyres, I've always used Pro-tyre on Bristol Road Gloucester, always been great service & prices. Also recently used Chris Mulins tyres (just up the road from Pro-tyre) who were equally as good.

Be interested to hear how you get on at V-Hub in Tewks..
