Saw this as well

Barstewards, pure and simple

Annoying schoolchild with the CSO's and speed cameras got right on my wick as well

"well, I dont think it's on that these people are doing 26MPH"

F off sonny, come back when you're driving and your opinion might count

Councillor (Mayor?) blurting loads of astats about difference betytween 20MPH and 30MPH in an accident, then saying "not really one for statistics, but..."

Aaaaaaaaaaargh!!!

The mayor is killing Bristol. Gloucester Road especially. There's no need for a 20mph limit at all.

think of the children

give it a few years and the whole area will be like this. fkING PAIN. wonder if they have more police with mobile speed cameras when they do?

I won't go on but the area is so Anti car it's amazing. well come to think of it the uk as a whole

Cycle and Bus lanes, lower speed limits. But if people want to use a car they will. the only way to reduce people getting killed is to reduce the speed limit to 0

Or make pedestrians look before crossing the fking road. Old or young many just don't give a st and cross.

does not matter what you say they will just keep making the car drivers life a bh.
think we need a weekly "drive fast cars, Big engine cars, loud cars around the area at 3MPG to show how unhappy we are with the way they come up with fecking stupid ideas

And breath ..........

It is all about those with the biggest voice. For years the people who work hard to pay for all these schemes never have the time to go and lobby effectivly. We have also sleep walked into allowing tree hugging, cycling nutters to get elected and we now see the damage they are doing.

The mayor, as far as I can see, is in a world of his own. Last week the news was people sleeping rough had gone up in Bristol by 50%, sounds awful. But that is now up to 40 people, represented on TV by two alcholics swigging cider. The answer? He has set up a task force to see what can be done. Get a cheap warehouse, throw some cheap beds in job done.

The other thing I read, was they are going to build a new arena at Temple meads, to host concerts etc, but they are not going to build any parking into the scheme as that encourages car use!!!!! Instead you will be forced to use public transport which will miraculasly be able to deal with 10000 people all at the same time, brilliant!

It's overkill, 20mph from Anchor Road to the St James Barton roundabout (which incidentally is going to have roadworks on until July).

Much easier to make driving less appealing than improving public transport. Farce bus are simply not reliable enough. I wonder if have they changed their timetables now this speed limits changed?

What else would you expect in Bristol, anyone else read this? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-bristol-24924...

Yeah I did. It's being left in the dark ages. Look at Manchester / Liverpool / any relatively large city and then look at Bristol. It's holding on to 20th Centure traditions that aren't viable anymore.

I couldn't care less about this 20mph limit, you cant drive at 20mph anyway so it doesn't matter in the slightest...

Or as a Cornish comedian once said (police officer)'i'm stopping you as you were over the 30 miles per hour limit' (Jethro) 'but I haven't been out for an hour' biggrin

That attitude is part of the reason it got passed with so little objection. If you commute outside of normal business hours or live on the outskirts of the city, 30mph is consistently achievable, and safe.

I Flew from Bristol Airport last year. WTF , Try driving there from south Wales.
Round and round the city we go , plus all the speed cameras to look out for.
I'd rather get a bus to Heathrow next time, probably quicker.

Yep, that's much better. Of course, it would have been much more sensible to have an airport within, say, 2 miles of the M4 / M5 interchange with a railway station.

Oh.
