I am looking for a family friendly pub/restaurant somewhere near Exeter as a decent place to meet some old friends on Sunday, probably lunchtime.

Any suggestions appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

One to consider is the Nobody Inn, see: http://www.nobodyinn.co.uk/

Get there early though, it can get very busy.

Near Exeter -- How near?

Waterloo Cross just off J27 M5? Make sure you book.

Somewhere equidistant between Paignton and Taunton.

Good idea. Will check it out.

Hmm, maybe the Barn Owl just off the back of Sowton. Eaten there a few times and never had a problem.

Thanks all - given me some good ideas.

Any one familiar with the Devon Motel, on the roundabout near the Marsh Barton roundabout - that looks quite good.

Typical Brend group hotel and we had a decent meal in their brasserie, Carriages smile

ETA - certainly a lot better than Waterloo Cross.

+1 good standard and service, food is alway good.
Other I'd recommend would be Jack in the Green https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=jack+in+the+gree... a bit more expensive, all depends how good these friends are!! biggrin

Parents live in the next village over and general consensus is to avoid like the plague. It used to be really good but hasn't got a good rep now.

The Ley Arms in Kenn is pretty good now apparently.

I can also recommend the Ship Inn at Cockwood. You'll have to book a table though.

At this time of year I'd avoid anything in town, as traffic and parking is starting to get difficult unless you know where you're going.

Also check whether it is Xmas menu time, although on a Sunday you should be OK. Quite a lot of placxes only do carvery on a Sunday too around here.

Devon Motel - been once, never gone back.
Gissons, never been, never heard anything good.

There is another place near Gissons just down the road in Kennford, The Ley Arms, which is pretty good.

The Barn Owl near the met office just off the A30 is pretty good, a regular haunt from the Wife's workplace and friends and family friendly.

The Hungry Fox in Broadclyst out near the airport has always been very good, but not been for a couple of years. Again easy to park and I think it has a kids area.

A few miles out on the A3052 at Woodbury Salterton is The White Horse, busy at weekends, a favourite with the family, but I'm not too keen.

It was all boarded up last time I passed by (couple of months ago). Not sure if it was temporary for a refurb, but it looked a bit more permanent.
