Me and Mrs Torque are just setting off for four nights in Braunton for some walking, drinking and eating. Can anyone recommend some pubs that do decent food; the only one we know if the Grampus Inn at Lee.

wavey Need a break after dealing with me eh? wink

The Manor in Croyde is a favourite of mine. The Thatch also serves up a good variety.

The Rock at Georgeham has a great reputation.

And if you feel the need for fish and chips - Squires in Braunton is ace smile

Here are a couple I like;

The Blue Ball Inn (top of Countisbury hill near Lynmouth).
The Rising Sun (Lynmouth. On the quayside).

There are a couple in the Oare valley. But the road down is a little interesting. You are also only around five miles from Somerset, so it may be a little too far up the coast.

Cheers.

We already know Squires and it was up to its usual standard last night. Thanks for the advice, I'm sure we'll do some of them justice.

Eat in is a lot better than taking out at Squires. There's a place called bank62 (or maybe 52) in Barnstaple which I like for food.

Avoid the Braunton Inn as its st clear and simple.

Thanks for the advice. Take a fish and chips from Squires on Wednesday night with a bottle of bubbly as it was my birthday - a proper PH dinner. We did The Rock (1st class) and The Grampus (a close 2nd, but with live music).
