Hi all, As the title suggests shelly and I are pushing the boat out this year, and instead of our usual 3 week holiday in Mexico we have opted for Burnham on sea for a week!.
Does anyone know of anything interesting to do in the area, and or any pub meets this week as we are going in the tiv , or does anybody fancy meeting up for a drink and a chat?.
We will be visiting the Seaquarium but have no idea what else there is to do.
Tripadviser is showing all outdoor walks and gardens and looking at the forecast, I think we may need indoor attractions to shelter from the blazing sun wink.
Many thanks in advance
Jamie and Shelly smile

Weston bike night finished now. Many things are closed as it's out of season. Clarke village is only 25 mins away if you go via Mark. Not a huge amount going on this time of year. As in meets no idea.

Took us about 10 mins to do the sealife centre in Weston. That was a waste of money! Cheddar Gorge is justup the road as is Wookey Hole caves and Wells Cathedral. Plenty of driving roads. Cheddar Gorge, Burrington Combe, up around Chew Valley lakes. Porlock and Exmoor along the north coast. Go to Washford and catch a steam train to Minehead? Weston pier.

Thankyou for the suggestions, We will be going to Wells, as I proposed to Shelly on the drawbridge of the Bishops house, so she wants to go there again, plus it is a lovely place.
Its a shame about the aquarium being small.
Im sure we will find things to do (even if its just a week long pub crawl)
Thanks again all
Jamie

Suggestions for breakfast/lunch/dinner:

Try Hadleys (Great breakfast and Dinner - not really eaten lunch but would imagine it being nice), number 1 the boulevard - really nice couple run it and good food

Also (a bit pricier, not sure what evenings they are open?) the "oak and glass" just off the sea front by the old royal hospital (now retirement buildings)

Really would suggest going to Bristol (Clifton area really nice) one evening - WSM main area (by the pedestrian square, right by the pier) is really not somewhere you want to be of an evening, no matter how low your expectations - and I speak as someone born, bred and a current resident!!)

Jamie - you really should take a day out from Burnham and hoof on around the coast roads to the west.

Give Minehead a miss and go to Dunster for a wander; from there on to pretty Porlock / Porlock Weir for a walk. Impromptu hillclimb up Porlock hill, 11miles on to Lynton for fish and chips (the one right on the short beach front for preference) ... zoom around Exmoor a bit, then home. Lovely bit of the world smile

If you're doing Wells, then Wed is market day and worth going to.

If you do Street and Clark's village, then you've got to do Glastonbury! Its an experience in itself!

Also I'm amazed that no ones mentioned that you'll be only a 45 min drive away from the Haynes motor museum in Sparkford! http://www.haynesmotormuseum.com/

And if you're just up for a cruise around one day, then burnham-wedmore-cheddar-up the gorge-priddy ends up at some very nice pubs! smile

Fingers crossed you get some nice weather!

Haynes is half closed with building work going on.

I live in Wells, as you know its a half decent place for a wander around.

Go take a look at the caves in cheddar or Wookey hole.

Fleet Air Arm museum too? smile Just down the road, and meant to be very good. Aiming to go myself some time.

I would wait until April 2014+ for Haynes as they are doing massive amounts of building work there.

Nuts

I was in a black M3, almost came and said hi, but the last Chim owner I said hello to in there looked at me like I was a freak (not a PH'er, see...)

Hi all wavey. We have just got home and thankyou all for the comments and suggestions smile
We had a great time and it was a deserved rest, We went to Wookey Hole again, Dunster on the steam train and the Fleet Air Arm today they were all great!. I can recommend the fleet Air Arm Museum, as it was fantastic. It was so much more than we expected, the simulated carrier section especially.
I think I remember seeing an M3, You should have said hello, even a non P/H owner would be grateful of the attention, the last bloke must have been a right miserable git, why own a TVR and get arsey when someone expresses an interest, perhaps we will meet at an event soon.
Once again Many many thanks to everyone
As I have said above perhaps we will meet some of you at events or meetings and please say hello if you see us or the car (its the L10UOD blue Chimaera) wink

Hi, Yes we had a lovely time thanks.
I have just seen that you are a fellow Tivver (even if it is a griff laugh) and it would have been ideal to be pointed in any direction. But we did have a drive round Burnham, and you are probably going to get the blame for a TVR making too much noise. lol
When we come back to the area, we will let you know and maybe meet for a drink or a hoon. smile
