Yup, heading down at lunchtime and leaving after Jools Holland. Really enjoyed it last year and very much looking forward to it this year.

No, i was seriously pi55ed off when you have to bid for tickets, so its just a jolly for those who can afford ferrari & lambo's.
Thats not charity, its vanity and frankly insulting.

Totally put off the event

So where is this happening then? Heading back from Oxford, we drove past a sign reading Car Fest, heading South on the A34, this afternoon. Was that the same event or a coincidence?

Same here perhaps meet up on the Sunday. I have had the car for over a year now and have been to a few events but not met up with any other owners. Should have the opportunity at CF South.

Despite the doubters on here this was a fantastic event open to all.

Stunning cars on display, both static and up the hillclimb, brilliant live music from the likes of Texas, Keane, Jools Holland and notably Seasick Steve and some amazing flying displays from the Chinook, Vulcan, Memorial Flight etc.

No signs of elitism anywhere just loads of people from all walks of life enjoying themselves and raising money for charity. Don't knock what you don't know.

So how much were the tickets ? You didnt bid for them did you ?
It was a fair trek for me to attend, so the ticket bidding was the last barrier to attendance. Thats all.

There shouldn't have been any bidding if you got in early enough.

When they are first released it is first come first served much like any other festival. I think they then opened up some remaining tickets for auction. So next year just listen when it is going to be ticket day and buy them at face value

+1, exactly.

Just like any other over subscribed event such as Goodwood Revival, FA Cup etc. I know I got free tickets this year because of the Aston Centenary but I went last year and got (and paid for )tickets easy enough having applied for them the same week they were announced.

It was a brilliant event and I do recommend you attend next year - and book early!!!!smile

Now I understand

Its not local to me and I dont listen to Chris Evans on radio2 as i'm only 42 years old and still like new music! getmecoat
where else would I hear about it ?
I only found out about it in the last week, so that all makes sense

I'm forty and as far as I can tell its standard to listen to Radio two, didn't know I could opt out!!!!, but try to avoid listening to too much Captain Caffeine Chris Curb Your Enthusiasm Evans. Spoke to a couple of friends who went last year and they had a ball, really recommended it. It's the rush to buy and the money the ticket office make, then the auction, just put me off. Making money and charity don't always go together, maybe Carfeast has found the answer scratchchin

So looking at those spots this was what we drove past on the way back from Oxford. Hadn't heard anything about it prior to that.
