...just flew over our house
RIAT starts today/tomorrow (military buyers and VIPs before the weekend punters I think)so I guess they are practising/flying in for that.
It doesnt matter how old you get it still a great sight when they come over at low level

Are you next to the airbase? We live in Kempsford and will be spending the weekend in the garden watching the airshow with a birdseye view
Sometimes living near an airbase has its upsides Although, to be honest with it being an inactive base there aren't really any downsides either!
It's been busier than usual for a Friday before the airshow, I think the hot weather is really bringing everybody out. Roll on tomorrow and the decending of the masses

Smiles - I am in Ciren so I guess we get the formation laps, as it were...
Update on yesterday: at various times we had flyovers from
- 2 x Harriers
- 1 x Red Arrow escorting a large transport plane
plus
- another flypast of all the Arrows in the afternoon
They come across so low it is most excellent

Excellent. I usually watch that from one of the front offices of my office on Exmouth seafront
So you will be working on the Saturday then? This years display has moved from its traditional Thursday spot to the Saturday. They used to display at Dartmouth regatta on the Saturday of the August bank holiday weekend, does anyone know if they are this year?
The Red Arrows are displaying at Dartmouth Regatta at 6pm on Friday 30 August.
Sadly, for the second year running, there will not be a display by the Eurofighter - which is a shame as to see this awesome piece of kit displaying over Dartmouth two years ago was stunning.
Particularly when it set off hundreds of car alarms in Dartmouth & Kingswear!!!!

A quote from an old school friend's LinkedIn profile:
In the RAF I was a fighter pilot, specialising as a Harrier Qualified Weapons Instructor. My responsibilities included pilot training, standardisation and tactical planning. In 1993 I was selected to fly in The Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, The Red Arrows. I flew displays during the 1994, 95 and 96 seasons. During that 3 year tour of duty I displayed in The Middle East, South Africa and The Far East. In 1996 we displayed to a record crowd over Sydney Harbour for Australia Day.
bd's a decent chap too.
