Afternoon all,

House moving stuff is about to boggle my mind and will soon be in need of a valuation on my current property.

Anyone in this field or have any good contacts I can jump at when it all kicks off?

Any help much appreciated as always smile

Not sure where you are, but I know a client of ours, Harrison Lavers & Potburys (in Sidmouth) do this.

When you say a valuation on your current property, I guess that's to sell it? If so then you don't need a surveyor you just need an estate agent to give you a 'market appraisal', that's a valuation to let you know what its worth or the price they feel they can achieve on the market.

You'll need a surveyor for the one your buying to check its structure etc.

You're quite right, survey and valuation for the property we're going to purchase! (not enough sleep been happening, keep typing gibberish). smile

Theres 3 main types of survey, a valuation report, homebuyer report & a full structural. Most people opt for either the first or second, if you want a homebuyer and your applying for a mortgage then its cheaper to do it through your lender, they instruct who ever is on their panel, Colleys, countrywide, etc & the independent surveyor will go out & do the basic val for the lender & the homebuyer for you. If you instruct your own surveyor then you still have to pay for the basic through your lender & then also pay for the homebuyer to your surveyor.

If your buying with no mortgage or want to instruct your own then Charles Bulbeck is highly recommended as is Doug Reid at Ocean 0117 9707590.
