Hi, i've been searching for a couple of months and found a garage to do some work on my Porsche..... read up a little and seem to be ok. Just after anybody thats used them as im spending a few K. Good or bad views welcome.

The Garage is Colwills Garage, Harton Ind. Est, Hartland, Bideford, Devon, EX39 6AG. Chap called Geoff. (http://www.colwillsgarage.co.uk/index.html)

I have heard nothing bad, so im not out to find something, just i live miles away and letting them have my pride and joy. Most PH's will understand spin

I know a couple of places down my way - Oaktree Garage, ran by a chap called Crispin, is a Porker outfit in Newton Poppleford. There's a place down Bridport called Marque 21 too, who seem very professional / good outfit when I went there a couple of weeks back with my 924.

I can vouch for Oaktree, looked after my 996 for 4 years now. There is a newish one in Honiton & another recommended one in Braunton I think?

yes it has, but thats only one half of the engine which that would effect..... so im being told (i dont do mechanics) so this wouldn't be complete strip to the bones, but as its getting a intense strip, i want to go the whole hog and do the full works.... pistons, chains......etc etc. Im just going on advice. Have had many different diagnosis over the phone but still will have to see. Engine still runs, not that i would run it now.

MBS in Exeter might be worth a go, very professional and I know they look after a number of 911's, they have looked after my Merc for the last few years. They have all the diagnostics for Porsche etc:

Another rec for Crispin in Newton Popp. Don't know anyone who has had a bad experience.

My in-laws live in the village and have taken their cars there for 30 years. When a power steering line rubbed through and started to leak on my Camry we phoned him up and he opened up and fixed it for me, at 3pm on Xmas eve, and charged me a tenner.

Who did you end up choosing to do the rebuild?

Went with Colwell Garage, managed to find someone on another forum who had work done buy them, and basically had a complete engine rebuild with old parts to show changed, and runs without a glitch, they also did all his lazer alignment etc and other stuff. and labour was reasonable too. Thanks for the advice tho.

Fingers crossed! picked up this morning, stripped tomorrow, price tuesday, and hopefully 5 trains and a taxi to collect next sat......
