If you or someone you know are one of the lovely people who decide to cut into the filter lane at rhe last minute, whenthe traffic is at a crawl...please stop! Just join the queue half a mile back like the rest of us!

Nearly every week there is shunt on this junction, usually caused by people cutting in at the last moment whilst traveling at 50mph+ into a lane which is doing 10mph max. I've nearly been hit a few times by people doing this and have seen so many near misses too. Todays has been a classic example...it took nearly an hour to get from J17 to J19 due to a 5 car shunt and it looked like someone was being cut out of one of the cars.

If people stopped, there'd be less accidents, the traffic would flow better and we'd all get home a little earlier!

Is that southbound onto the Gordano Services roundabout ? where you queue over the bridge ?
Its never been a good junction. Its almost as bad getting off at WSM even tho they tried to widen it for another lane.

It annoys me more when you step back & look at the house builders who get away with building more & more housing estates without putting in an infrastructure that can cope with it. Make them build a second junction just for Portishead I say !

I'm glad I don't have to commute that way any more. I would always be watching my mirrors for the tt who'd be going to do it. It just doesn't seem able to handle the volume of traffic.

Also, sitting on the bridge when it's not moving isn't much fun as the bridge bounces like anything!

The problem, as suggested above, is that the queue is mainly for P'head and that's a big queue when there is very little traffic heading towards Bristol.

The Portway queue is also terrible!

J19 is the one just before the M4 isn't it? The one going into the Aztec park, or maybe Cribbs?

J19 south for Portishead.

There are now too many houses/cars using the junction and they're still building new houses any where they can. Its improved coming out of Phead since they expanded the end of the hundreds and installed the lights but it hasn't improved the general ttish driving of people cutting in on the Avonmouth Bridge.

Last year I had a close call with a van who was cutting in...we were crawling over the bridge, traffic in front was stopping, I was breaking as a van cut in behind. Luckily I saw him and had just enough time to swing my car onto the hard shoulder as his van stopped where my car should have been. Van driver just shrugged...no apology or nothing.

I'm not a nervous driver but I really do now hate being stuck in the traffic on that bridge due to other drivers. It seems like it will only change once someone is killed, which at this rate is only a matter of time!

Spot on G!

Weston is getting another bunch of houses on the airport (this is on top of the hundreds being built by me) which is just going to make the whole thing worse

I wonder who iin the council is getting the largest back hander to let the builders get away with this time after time - if they had paid proper dues we would have had a J21A years ago

One of the comments made for this last lot was that the building work would "consume its own smoke" - they claimed the offices and industrial units would supply the jobs for the people in the new homes

Yes,

because sooooooooooooo many people from WSM work in WSM, don't they

And so far the only office development that has been started is the new housing offices right by the dual carriageway

I'm majorly pissed about it, and I don't even get the grief whith the times I leave (6am) and come home (4pm)
