Does anyone have a scaletrix car I can borrow? Trying to work out if it's our track which is knackered or if it's the cars themselves.

Happy to help but Im in Cirencester - too far as well I guess.

I know they work as they were used just prior to Easter in a fundraiser in the College where I work smile.

oh...they are my sons btw although I still have my set from the mid 70s: full track plus 2 x Mini Coopers (which also still work...unbelievably!)

smile

Yes please. I'm likely to be over that way on Sunday for the Wanswell meet if you're around then?

Sounds like an extremely good excuse to buy a new car wink

.......... although as far as my wife knows, they don't sell them singly biggrin

We're actually looking to sell the track which is why we want to know if it's just the cars which have died or if it's the track too. The power pack box lights up suggesting power is getting to the track, but the cars appear to have died.

If they aren't digital, just try them with battery. A 9v PP3 is ideal as you can put a braid on each terminal.

Is there much of a market for this stuff?

Iv got a Mini Cooper complete set from the 70s plus a more modern set with 2 x Porches and extra DBR9 and TVR440 cars? On and a digital lap timer thingy

Will try the trick with a battery (if we have one of those type) and see what happens.

There's still quite a big market for it all....have you seen how expensive the new sets are!

There`s not much(if anything) to go wrong with the track.Transformer and controllers may be shot. If you are just hoping to sell the track should be no issues.
Can you just get the power to the cars on one piece of track. From my recollection the track connections depend on the age of the set.

The set we have is part of a box set which was purchased around 15yrs ago and been stored in the loft for at least 10yrs. We think the boys killed the cars the last time it was used but we really can't remember and neither can they, hence we'd like to borrow a car so we can check everything else works as the guy who is lined up to buy it for his grandson is happy to get new cars if thats all it needs.

Do you still need some cars? I have a variety of them you could try: my favourite is the Rallye Trabant, of course. I'll bring them into work tomorrow if you like.

Best wishes, Colin

Went into a toymaster a couple of mounths ago, looking at their catalogue.

'Maserati Trofeo! Sweet!'

Felt 8 years old.
