So, this council that is so hard up it has to cut essential services can waste £195,000 on keeping areas of central Bristol car free on Sundays?

Words fail me

The obvious answer is to avoid the centre of town and head out to Castle Combe Circuit on the first closure day.

I checked the dates (I'm on one of the closed streets) and I don't think the Queen Sq meets will be affected.

FYI:

23-06-13
21-07-13
29-09-13
20-10-23

I still think it's a daft idea, Baldwin St and QCS are hardly the bustling hub of Bristol Street culture.

So looks like he wants all traffic out of the centre on the weekend's

Noooo. We have to walk down there and listen to talentless t**ts because in today's PC world you have to show open support for mediocrity. It's all part of the 20 mph road narrowing assault on cars being carried out by the watermelons.

Cheers

Bristol was the only city given the option in a referendum last year of having an elected Mayor voting to have one.

Be careful of what you wish for ... rolleyes

True but CC has been on the cards for a long time and it's no real surprise. Just seems short sighted to me!

We're looking for a bigger office. Out of town premises looking increasingly attractive. Shame, we enjoy supporting all the food vendors and stuff around here.

The whole council seems to hate cars but they can hate as much as they want there is no vialble alternative to workers. That uis because in the 25 years I have lived near Bristol they have argued about the tram system, the road network and have sat back and watched everything go wrong. And now they have elected a red trouser wearing cyclist to run the city. They have floated work place parking charges, resident parking passes which was defeated as where they wanted it to go was full of barristers etc who wiped the floor with them even buying the M32 to make it into a toll road. All the time the Newport leader has said bring your business over here, free parking, no charging and if you want we will throw in the odd welsh development cash. Where would you go?

Yep,

Yes, it will be "greedy business owners move their operations out of Bristol to avoid paying congestion charge".

Want to go to the cinema on a Sunday? Cannot drive because it is banned or catch a bus because there are none due to a shocking, non existant bus service? Well come to Bristol where we go out of the way to p*ss people off smile

Wait, there's more. According to the BBC News web-site, "Bristol parking permit fees 'could rise by 400%'":

Best wishes, Colin
