bankers draft fraud
Discussion
due to some low life from canada? i have been led up the garen path be someone who through no fault of mine wanted to buy my car through track days web site!! after agreeing a price i was sent a bankers draft for the balance and put it into my bank account. after the clearing process i was sent a letter saying that the draft was fraudulent!!! so after informing my local boys in blue they were pleased to tell me that they havent got the techno to trace the email address from which i have been dealing with! so anyone who thinks bankers drafts are as safe as cash please think again?
A woman I work with in Bristol was telling me that her son was selling his car for £26k and he has a buyer coming from "up north" (she's a bit vague - didn't know what the car was even....!) and the buyer has agreed to pay the money and has insisted on coming on Sunday. He says he's bringing cash - I bet he's going to turn up with a bankers draft instead. I've warned her about the bankers draft scam and she says she'll tell him but I don't think she will - she was convinced a bankers draft is safe!
