Any one going? The spectator area is a great place to see some of the action.

http://somersetstagesrally.com/

"As one of only a few forest rallies that take place in the South West we welcome spectators of all ages to our event for the chance to see some of the best rally action anywhere in the region. However due to the sensitive nature of Exmoor National Park and the surrounding forestry land that the event uses, we do ask that spectators only watch from our designated spectator stage in Chargot Woods.

The designated spectator zone in this stage offers great viewing over a horseshoe bend which is both fast and furious and offers all round viewing from entry to exit. In partnership with the Forestry Commission, there is off road parking with just a short walk (10 mins) into the stage (but a steep climb out!). There will also be LIVE commentary, toilets and a refreshment van available throughout the day in this area."

Yes I can thoroughly recommend the spectator area, in Chargot forest.Has good viewing, commentary and best of all a good food wagon. Parking is in Kennisham forest next door and its only a 10 min walk to the spectator area.

Hi guys, I'm new to the forum and just wondered if you could help. Will be coming down for somerset stages this weekend and wondered if there is overnight parking in the spectator area, or if we should book a campsite nearby?

Any help would be great! Not been out to see any rallying for ages and we're really looking forward to it. Thanks!

Hi there. The spectator area is forestry commission land, so they probably won't be happy if your thinking of camping there. It might be worth contacting the ralieghs cross inn or wheddon cross inn, and see if either of them are able to advise camping near them. Both of them do good pub grub and are located near the spectator stage. If you check out the event website we had a link to the tourist info centre, which should be useful. Weather forecast is good.

I was initially planning on being in london for the weekend and popping along to the London Rally for Heroes. Closer inspection has however highlighted that London being in the title was a little misleading, time wise it actually being closer to home in Dorset than where I would have been in Islington.

So, complete change of plans and off to the Somerset Stages instead.

Looking back through some 2011 images made me realise how much I miss this lunacy

Hi Guys,

New here, but often lurk reading posts smile

Does anyone have spectator maps for this event, rumour has it that the designated spot to watch isn't that good. From what i've seen, croydon wood and another stage near by is recommended?

grateful for any information smile

Great day out yesterday. Saw some great commited driving through some fast left handers on Porlock and got talking to some top people. Rally folk are great if I do say so myself.

3 short clips from the day, pics to follow...

Absolutely first class day, took far to many pictures, but the light was fantastic all day, and the people so friendly. Very glad I swapped plans to go here rather than the london Rally.

Sorry for anyone who went to Chargot and found the refreshment van wasn't operating. The team who were crewing it had their truck breakdown at Plymouth, and by the time they got there the stage had already started, so were unable to access the van.

Saw it back at rally H Q on its trailer. Guessing that's in Croydon Forest.
