I've got a go to Plymouth on Thursday after getting some work done on the Cerby at Fernies near Haslemere.

Looking at the map there seem to be a number of options as to how to do the journey.

Any suggestions for the best route, avoiding bottlenecks and the like?

Ta in advance
Jim

If it was me I would take.
A272 - A30 - A36 - A303 - A30 - A38 Plymouth.
Taking the Southern route may be a bit shorter but you are more likely to get stuck behind slow moving vehicles.
(Watch the Cameras on the A303 dual carriageway sections)

Which is exactly the route that my Travelmanager program suggests - 179 miles.

Thanks chaps

That is almost the same as the AA Route planner suggests. Seems the A303 has more dual carriage way than if I travelled south through S'ampton and past Bournemouth and Weymouth.

Looks like that's the way to go!

Cheers

the a35 is an interesting road, but you're right - trucks etc. are a pain.
